Exchange Information

After making sure you and any passengers are uninjured, exchange contact and insurance information with the other driver. Get their full name and contact number, insurance company and policy number, license plate number, type of vehicle, and the location of accident. Avoid discussing fault when going over the facts with the other driver. Your insurance company will review the information and determine who's at fault based on an inspection of the vehicles/property damaged, information provided by you and the other parties involved, police report, or photographs from the scene.

Document the Accident

Also, document the accident thoroughly by taking pictures of both vehicles from different angles, showing the damages. Be sure to get a copy of the accident report from the police officer who assessed the scene.
